Memorial Services for Bob Barry Jr.

The family of Bob Barry Jr. has announced that a public memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 26, at Crossings Community Church, 14600 N Portland Avenue, Oklahoma City.




OAB Says Goodbye to Past Chairman George Wilburn:

Our friend George Wilburn, who served the OAB members as Chairman in 1981, will be remembered with a Celebration of Life at 2 pm on Wed., May 27 at Crawford Family Funeral Service Chapel, Edmond.

George Hugh Carlton Wilburn was born in McAlester, OK February 27, 1939, to Hugh and Ruth (Cooper) Wilburn. He graduated McAlester High School in 1957 and was a member of the Oklahoma National Guard. George worked in the radio business for 30 years, spending some time in Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma. He was part-owner and general manager of three radio stations in Oklahoma. George was general manager of CableOne systems in Oklahoma and Texas until he retired. It was in Nebraska that he met the love of his life, Ruth Ann Wilson. They spent 53 wonderful years together. He had a big heart and wanted to help his community in any way he could. George served on countless boards, clubs, committees, and associations.

He leaves behind his wife, Ruth Ann; daughter, Lori and her husband Dr. David Whitlock; son, Brian and his wife Jill Wilburn; and daughter, Lisa and her husband Chris Suriano. George is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Madison Walls and her husband John; Harrison, Dave, Mary-Liz, Nathan, Jackson, and Cooper; and one great-grandson, Eli.

It provides an opportunity for faculty members at Oklahoma's broadcast schools to update their skills and develop closer relationships with radio and television broadcasters.


OAB Outstanding Achievement Awards Results

The 2014 OAB Awards have been judged, and the results are here. Congratulations to this year's winners, and a big thank you to everyone who entered. Oklahoma broadcasters continue to set high standards for our industry. Well done!

Awards will be presented at the annual Outstanding Achievement Awards Banquet on Friday, March 27, at the Skirvin Hotel in Oklahoma City. Registration information for the awards banquet and the upcoming OAB Convention will be mailed and posted on Feb. 18.

Larry Patton Elected to OAB Hall of Fame

OAB is pleased to announce the selection of Larry Patton, KSWO-TV, Lawton, for induction into our Hall of Fame.

Since 1977, Larry has run and managed KSWO TV 7 in Lawton, Oklahoma. Larry has been actively involved in numerous critical issues affecting Southwestern Oklahoma, donating his time and broadcast resources. His leadership and drive has constantly worked to improve the communities he serves. He is Oklahoma Born and Bred, an icon in Oklahoma television, and we sure are proud to have in our Hall of Fame.
